Create my free avatarFree credits at sign-up β no credit card required
Free is the most abused word in this category, and it usually hides one of four arrangements. The first is the downscaled preview: you get a small, soft image and the usable file appears only after a payment. The second is the branded export, where a logo sits permanently in the corner of the avatar you were told you could keep. The third is the timed trial that starts the moment you tap install and converts into a weekly charge if you forget to cancel. The fourth, and the most common on mobile, is the card form served before any result has been shown at all.
ToonZap runs on credits instead, and credits behave in a way you can reason about. A new account opens with a batch of welcome credits β the exact balance is displayed on your dashboard as soon as you land there β and no payment method is requested to claim them. Each generation costs a small number of credits depending on the quality level you pick, so you always know what an experiment will cost before you launch it. When your balance reaches zero the generator stops, and nothing else happens: no charge, no account closure, no reminder loop. Your existing avatars stay in your private gallery and stay downloadable.
One more detail that matters in practice: if a generation fails on our side, the credits it consumed return to your balance automatically. You never pay β in money or in credits β for an avatar you did not receive.
Both models advertise a free AI avatar. What each one does to your file and to your bank account has nothing in common:
Credits are not tied to a single feature. The same balance opens every avatar tool on the platform:
Type what you picture β hairstyle, outfit, expression, background mood β and let the generator draw an original character that has never existed before.
Upload a selfie and get a stylised version of yourself that keeps your recognisable features, without putting your actual face online.
Keep the description and swap the aesthetic: anime, warm 3D, comics, cyberpunk, flat cartoon. Comparing directions costs a few credits, not a decision.
Feed one of your avatars into the talking avatar tool and get a lip-synced video of up to 28 seconds, driven by a script or by your own recorded voice.
It is a fair question, and the honest answer is that image generation costs real compute time on real hardware. An account is what lets us hand out a fixed amount of that compute per person rather than letting a handful of scripts drain it in an hour. It is also what makes the rest of the experience possible: a private gallery that remembers every avatar you generated, a credit balance you can watch, and the automatic refund that only works because we know whose generation failed.
What it does not require is a card, a phone number or a subscription. Email and a password are enough, and the account can be deleted at any time from your settings β a request that cascades through your images, your generation history and your profile data. Everything is stored on European infrastructure, and your creations stay private unless you deliberately publish one to the community gallery.
The first avatar is rarely the one you keep. Free credits exist so that you can afford to be picky:
Same prompt, same style, different interpretation. One click is often all it takes to fix a stray lock of hair or a pair of glasses the model misplaced.
The Standard quality level costs the fewest credits and returns in seconds. Explore there, then re-run your favourite in HD or Ultra once the direction is settled.
Square, high-definition files that crop cleanly into the circular frames used by most platforms. No unlock step between generation and download.
You can delete your account at any time from your settings β the request is processed within 30 days at most and removes your images, your generation history and your profile data together. The detail lives in our privacy policy and our terms of service.
A still avatar is a profile picture. The same file, fed into the talking avatar tool with a script or a voice recording, becomes a lip-synced video of up to 28 seconds β the format that works for intros, announcements and short lessons.
Turn a photo into a talking avatarIt is free to start, and the definition matters. Creating an account takes about thirty seconds and never asks for a payment method. Your account opens with a batch of welcome credits, and every credit is spendable on whatever you want: avatars written from a text description, avatars built from one of your own photos, several style variations of the same character, or a short talking avatar video. Nothing is locked behind a paywall once the image is generated, and no trial period starts counting down in the background.
No. Card details are only requested if you deliberately decide to buy a credit pack or subscribe to a monthly plan later on. Until you take that step yourself, ToonZap has no payment information about you at all β which also means nothing can renew, auto-charge or roll over without your knowledge. This is the single biggest difference with mobile avatar apps, where a free result usually sits behind a three-day trial that converts into a weekly charge.
The generator simply stops producing new images, and that is all. Your account stays open, the avatars you already created stay in your private gallery, and you can keep downloading them. To carry on generating you choose between a one-off credit pack and a monthly plan β both are optional, both are cancellable from the customer portal, and neither is selected for you by default. If a generation fails on our side, the credits it consumed are automatically returned to your balance.
Yes. Avatars you generate are downloaded as standard image files, in square high-definition format, which is what Discord, Twitch, X, LinkedIn and most other platforms expect for a profile picture. They are private by default and only appear in the ToonZap community gallery if you explicitly choose to share one. The full detail of what you may do with your creations is set out in our terms of service.
Account in thirty seconds, welcome credits included, no card. The only thing to prepare is a rough idea of the character you want β or a decent selfie.
